Vintage Pink Jester Character Toby Jug

This is a very unusual Vintage Pink Jester Character Toby Jug.  It has no distinguishing back marks but is similar in style to the Royal Doulton ‘The Jester’ of the same period (1920s-30s). It was probably made by one of the lesser known art Staffordshire potteries in the Doulton style.

Approximate Dimensions

• Base Diameter: 9cm (3.6″)
• Height: 11cm (4.3″)
• Width jug lip to handle end: 13cm (5.1″)

The jester’s face is beautifully sculpted. The character jug is not perfect, there are glazing defects and missing paint, but these defects have been there since the jug was first manufactured.

The photographs have been taken with and without flash hence the colour differences. The colour is closest to the that of the first image.
